Legalization of Marijuana

Cannabis, also know as Marijuana, or Ganga (meaning hemp) is one of the most

prominent historical forms of medicine. Signs of marijuana use have been dated back to

3rd millennium B.C, in its indigenous habitat, Central America and South Asia. Ancient

civilizations world wide accepted this herb, for both eating, smoking, which was seen as

a peace ritual, and a way of healing common problematic symptoms of sickness. In the

1900’s marijuana lost its culture and its title as a simple herb. In 1936, just a few years

before the second red scare, a movie was created tarnishing Ganga’s reputation. This

movie was called “Reefer Madness.” Not only was this a terrible movie, it was also a

suspicion to teen related madness. Hollywood Land (original name of Hollywood) made

money in the box office while doctor studied Cannabis, and its true effects .Later in the

1960-70’s, six U.S. health departments performed studies on the use of marijuana

publicly. Marijuana was officially distributed legally to glaucoma patients. The botanical

Ganga was embraced by society, thus Woodstock 69’ was created. Future hall of fame

artist such as Jimi Hendrix made they’re headlines, changing modern American culture

forever. Now it’s 2010, and Cannabis is seen as one of the worlds most harmful

narcotics. Not only is it now being denied medically after being proven to heal various

issues, it is also a social taboo, causing it lose its title as simple plant and gaining the

plight of being a “Drug”. Ultimately, Marijuana should be legalized to be used

medicinally, for its positive effects, and to further our already stifled rights as a human

being.

Medicinal Marijuana is beneficial to any, and everyone with chronic illness or

disorder. Though weed has a negative reputation it’s been proven to halt or lessen the

pain patients experience. Cannabis can be used topically, can be smoked, and taken orally

, in foods or drinks. Marijuana, for a person with illness is not used to feel “bussed” or

“high”. For example, Cancer patients going through Chemo experience significant hair

shed , loss of appetite , and overall depression due to the physical changes. Marijuana

creates much needed laughter , and hunger ,which helps the person suffering feel like

there is still a chance at having a regular enjoyable life against all odds .The true

underlying and most  beneficial perk of Ganga for the sickly, is hope. Marijuana

ultimately, gives leverage and ease to people who suffer daily. Just knowing that there is

still a way to smile and feel healthy again is the light at the end of a dark tunnel. Besides,

if I had a sick friend or family member, I  would want them to do whatever it takes to

obtain happiness.

Cannabis also has great benefits for regular everyday people. At sometime in our

Lives, we all deal with extreme stress or anxiety due to bills, school, family members,

etc. Marijuana is an excellent way to remove stress, especially since it’s a happy drug.

Studies show that Ganga can eliminate insomnia, which deals with a psychiatric anxiety

issue. When smoked correctly, marijuana is completely harmless, and in fact can improve

lung capacity when chiefed. It can also loosen muscle, for people who have frequent back

pain or spasms. Nevertheless, Cannabis can stop stress and promote better health for

anyone.

Besides all the benefits of marijuana, the main reason why it should be legalized is

for simply the option. The Constitution gave us independence, and the Bill of Rights

promised us freedom of anything non violent to society. Marijuana created a cultural

movement, proving to be beneficial to our society, medicine ,etc. When

all is said and done, our rights entitle us to freedom of practice, though somehow

Marijuana slipped through the cracks. It’s only patriotically correct if we have at least the

option to consider consuming Ganga on our own. This modern day democracy was

created for the people, by the people, and the people have spoken. We deserve the right to

choose Marijuana for whatever the reason may be.

Overall, Marijuana contributes to the lives of millions. Whether it’s for sickness,

stress or just leisure, Cannabis is defiantly harmless and should be accepted in modern

society, just as our ancestors once did. The legalization of marijuana will bring promising

results to me, you and millions in the United Sates of America.

Abortion

Abortion is one of the most controversial issues in modern day society. Approximately,

1.37 million abortions are given a year in the Untied States alone. Since 1972, when

abortions were made legal, the same prominent question has been asked to all the citizens

of abortion friendly societies. When does the fetus gain its own human rights? Many

contradicting opinions have come to the public’s attention. Most believe the baby doesn’t

have rights until born and abortion can be used as a last minute contraceptive. With

nearly 50% of all pregnancies in America being unintended, women fail to notice the

magnitude of abortions.

Though being both despised and supported in America, abortions greatly contribute to

the overall income of the U.S. economy. In fact, the abortion industry grosses an average

of $ 372 to $400 million dollars a year alone. With programs such as planned parent

among other government financed clinics; the abortion industry’s profit is constantly

increasing figures. Abortion companies also have a new reliable source for abortions;

Teens.

With over 20% of all pregnancies in the U.S. coming from teens ages 13-17, abortion

has reached its highest gross in history. For 1,000 births, 312 are terminated. Modern day

society is now openly beginning to accept teen pregnancy, rather than viewing it as a

form of taboo, due to the ease of terminating pregnancies.

Since the large increase in currency for abortion companies, new forms of

termination have been discovered and used. The original in-clinic operation from 1972

has drastically changed. Safer but more gruesome forms of the original procedure are

being practiced. The newest last minute contraceptive is the abortion pill. With this new

potent medication, you can simply take two doses to completely terminate an early

pregnancy. The result is the shedding of the inner walls of the vagina, which supports the

new cell, or potential baby. After the medication takes its full effect, the zygote is

discharged, flowing like a period. With such ease to end pregnancy, it’s no wonder why

four out of every ten pregnancies are terminated in the world.

Shortly after carefully considering and analyzing the fetal stages of the fetus, I

believe the baby gains rights just as it gains a heart beat; Three months into the

pregnancy. At this point of the second trimester, the baby’s brain has begun developing,

helping it perform regular baby action, such as sleeping and sucking its thumb. I disagree

with the idea of aborting a child, especially when its for the mothers selfish, and

immature mistakes. Babies and child birth is a special quality, not to be made a statistic

and not to be considered as a mistake. Regardless of the situation at hand, a child is

wonderful responsibility, and abortions are a careless way of taking it for granted.

Overall, researching abortion and its very shocking statistics showed me a new

perspective on the gracious gift of child birth. After realizing how the miracle of baby

development occurs ,I’ve finally gained my own opinion on abortion. I deeply believe the

baby does have rights at three months, just as it gains it’s true sign of life; A heart beat.

More Poems

Anger boils over his eyes,
Baring nothing but bloodshot corneas,
Leaving a trail of hatred in the hearts of others.

Love seeps from her lips,
Covered in various colors and taste of Christian Dior glossy,
Marking it's territory upon his coarse skin,on the nuckle of his hard working hands.

Lust spued from her auroa,
Drapped in a silk Robe, which sheild her natral glow,
Imprinting forver in his memory, bearing internal meaning.

Beauty curse his vision of love,
Sheilding his naive eyes with woo viels,
Discarding his true psyche, straying him away from the missing piece.

Sadness filled his chest, creating weight on his heart,
Stuffing his mouth with invisible cotton,
Making him speechless and cellaphane to his wife and her new love.

Safety flees her mind, while her thoughts tear down the walls,
Exposing the heart wrenching truths ,that she hid from herself subconciously.
Trapping her in the mind of a maniac.

Setting

I remember when I was younger, maybe, kindergarten or first grade , I got my first night light .It was aqua blue with different types of fish drawn on the notation screen . The first time I used it , I invited my friend Sarah over to test it out. The night lamp project large large fish and wave shapes throughout my room. They swam on every surface in my room. Eventually, the light shorted out,I grew out of my fear for darkness and I moved on. I really appreciated how my mother was and is my advocate. My mother and father supported my fears and had always come to my rescue when "ghouls attacked."I'm honored and blessed with amazing parents; I'll never forget, that aqua blue night lamp that projected fish and waves on every surface in my room.

Quick Poem

Head to the constellations ,
Lost in my own concentration,
What do I want?
What do I need?
Forget what I need..I'm consumed in greed.
Step over the dudes who adore me,
Stability bores me,
He ignored me,
I wonder why,
Hmmm condescending,
Uhh contradicting,
Restricting,
Enticing,
Surprising,
Me and Him..vibbing?
Mmm I'm winning,
Sexy lips grinning,
Facades fading,
Do you know me,the real me.

Personal Stuffs

My eyes slowly opened to the distinct sound of glass crashing. My brother was woken up from the same sound. We both approached the living room, where you could hear a faint cry and pant. There was my mother, with blood seeping from her small flesh wounds. She held a knife in one hand, she had obviously grabbed from the kitchen and made a signal for me and my brother to yield in the hallway with the other. She yelled out to my brother saying something I couldnt make out.I was completely stuck. My brother pulled me back and called my aunt. She arrived promptly, just as the police did.We packed our bags and headed off, never to see my mother again for a long period of time.Later raised in a single parent home, watching my mother struggle with two children, and an previously abusive husband, I learned the true meaning of self worth.Due to the previous attack and the divorce between my mother and father,I was forced to relocate.I began attending Frank D. Parent Elementary School weeks later, while my brother remained at his previous middle school. The first day I arrived alone. My mother, being a single parent ,worked constantly throughtout the day. Here I was,a linky 7 year old, alone on the first day of school.Children chuckled and talked with their parents, while I sat alone in the back. From this moment on,I knew I wouldnt fit in.I went from outspoken, charismatic and friendly to timid, depressed and discouraged. My grades sunk to an all time low,and I struggled with committing to my academics.Every subject grade I once excelled in got worse, just as my self confidence did. It wasnt until seventh grade that i realized that education was the essential key to my success in life. it all dawned on me after meeting a teacher named Mr. Mackey.  Due to the poor decision of being disruptive in class i was given detention and was forced to stay after.During my confinment he gave me constructive criticism which allowed to confide in him. it was the first time in many years that I actually felt that someone cared.  Mr. Mackey offered me tutoring to help me catch up in the rest of my classes and from then on my work habbits showed a dramatic improvement in all areas of learning. by the end of second semester my grade point average went from a 2.1 to a miraculous 3.4. After achieving such level of improvement I was reccommended to the national honors society. Thanks to some words of encouragment and using those words to help better myself I gained self worth and the tools needed to improve my over all personal issues that I had struggled with from the past. this experience taught me that you can accomplish anything through self confidence and understanding.
